Critical Thinking

I have had to use Bloom’s Taxonomy in my classroom for the past year.  Here is an example of a lesson using Bloom’s Taxonomy.

If I am teaching PEMDAS these are the steps I take to cover all 6 areas of Bloom’s Taxonomy.

Knowledge:  Identify the correct order of operations to start solving the problem.

Comprehension:  Explain why this is the best way to tackle the problem.

Application:  Solve the problem using the steps that the student has chosen.

Analsis:  Break it down into pieces by parenthesis, exponents, multiplication, division, addition and subtraction.

Synthesis:  I will assign  homework for them to create their own order of operations problem.

Evaluation:  It is up to the student to assess their problem for accuracy.
